Genesee County ZIP Code Coverage
Official county millage materials and a Michigan LARA county ZIP list identify many postal associations used around Genesee County. They are useful locator keys, not county polygons. The following selections show the patterns that matter most for a ZIP code directory: core Flint mail service, city-associated ZIPs, rural or mailing associations, and areas that need parcel confirmation. The research did not supply named post-office stations for every entry, so USPS confirmation is shown instead of an invented station name.
| ZIP code | Common Genesee-area association | Postal check | Directory handling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48423 | Davison | Verify the street with USPS | Common county association |
| 48430 | Fenton | Verify USPS and the parcel | Fenton crosses a county line |
| 48433 | Flushing | Verify the street with USPS | Common county association |
| 48439 | Grand Blanc | Verify the street with USPS | Common county association |
| 48457 | Montrose | Verify the street with USPS | Common county association |
| 48473 | Swartz Creek | Verify the street with USPS | Common county association |
| 48502–48507 | Core Flint range | Verify exact street and municipality | Core Flint ZIP range |
| 48550–48557 | Flint/Genesee-area mail services | Check ZIP+4 and address route | Not a county boundary |
Other documented associations include Clio, Gaines, Genesee, Goodrich, Linden, Mount Morris, Otisville, Burton-area and Flint-area entries. Some are explicitly edge, partial, PO or mailing contexts. The precise check is the USPS ZIP Code Lookup, followed by a county parcel or GIS record. The Michigan ZIP map gives statewide context but does not resolve a parcel-level question.
Core Flint ZIP Code Range
The core Flint range listed in the county research is 48502 through 48507. There are also Flint PO or mail-service entries such as 48501, Flint or Genesee-area entries 48531 through 48532, and mail-service values 48550 through 48557 and 48559. A Genesee County ZIP code directory should preserve those distinctions because each is a routing association rather than a statement that every address belongs to the City of Flint.
For a Flint address, check the complete delivery address first. Then identify the municipality and parcel from the county record. A postal label can be useful when entering an address in a search form, while a parcel ID or legal description is usually stronger for land-record and tax questions. Keep the postal result and the parcel result as two separate observations.
Genesee County City ZIP Associations
Several ZIP associations are straightforward enough to help narrow an address, but they still need a street-level check. The research lists 48420 for Clio, 48423 for Davison, 48433 for Flushing, 48436 for Gaines, 48438 for Goodrich, 48439 for Grand Blanc, 48449 for Lennon, 48451 for Linden, 48457 for Montrose, 48458 for Mount Morris, 48463 for Otisville, and 48473 for Swartz Creek. Genesee, Atlas, and a number of rural or edge areas have associations that should be treated more cautiously.
County geography is broader than a city title. The official Community Needs Assessment identifies eleven cities, charter and civil townships, villages, census-designated places, and unincorporated communities. That explains why a city field and ZIP field can both be accurate for mail yet insufficient for a jurisdiction question. The county’s nearby counties include Oakland, Lapeer, Livingston, Shiawassee, Saginaw, and Tuscola, so the outer service areas deserve an extra parcel check.
Note: The ZIP code directory uses city names as mailing associations, never as a substitute for a municipality or county field.
Find an Address by Genesee County ZIP Code
A ZIP does not produce a public list of people. It narrows an address check. Once you have the correct ZIP, use the full address in the property and mapping systems, then use the result only for the question each system can answer. The county’s BS&A portal supports detailed address, owner-name, and parcel-number searches. FetchGIS adds parcel geometry, aerial imagery, address points, street centerlines, and other map layers. Neither portal turns a ZIP into proof of occupancy.
- Enter the street address, city, and state in the USPS lookup. Save the returned ZIP or ZIP+4 exactly as shown.
- Search the same address in BS&A Online Genesee County property search. Record the municipality, parcel ID, tax year, and whether an address is situs or mailing.
- Open the parcel in Genesee County FetchGIS to compare the mapped parcel, address point, and nearby geography.
- For voting and election context, use the Michigan Voter Information Center through its status and election functions, not as a ZIP-based resident list.
When the ZIP has narrowed the search to a particular road, use the Genesee County by-street directory for the address-by-address record trail. It is the better route for parcel and street detail.
ZIP Code Fields in Genesee Searches
The USPS form uses address, city, and state fields to return a postal routing answer. BS&A may expose address, owner, parcel, municipality, and ZIP-related values depending on the jurisdiction and live detailed-search configuration. FetchGIS uses map search, parcel selection, layer controls, identify, and measure tools rather than a conventional ZIP directory. The fields lead to different kinds of results, which is why a ZIP code directory should keep their roles separate.
| Official route | Input or control documented in research | What the result helps check |
|---|---|---|
| USPS ZIP Code Lookup | Address, city, state | Postal ZIP or ZIP+4 for that delivery address |
| BS&A Online | Address, owner name, parcel number, municipality, ZIP-related values | Property and assessment context |
| FetchGIS | Map search, parcel selection, layers, identify, measure | Mapped parcel and spatial context |
The USPS ZIP Code Lookup form shown below is the right first check when a ZIP is uncertain.
After the postal answer returns, compare it with the assessor and parcel viewer instead of assuming the ZIP establishes a civic boundary or a person’s connection to the address.
Fenton ZIP Code Boundary Check
Fenton is the clearest Genesee County ZIP code caution. The research identifies 48430 with the Fenton city and township area, while also noting that Fenton city crosses county lines. A Fenton street can therefore produce several correct labels at once: a mailing city, municipality, county parcel, ZIP, school or planning context, and court venue. They do not all use the same boundary.
Verify the full street with USPS, then inspect the parcel record before treating it as a Genesee County address. Keep county and municipality as separate fields in notes and requests. The same approach helps with documented edge or partial associations such as 48415, 48418, 48421, 48429, 48442, 48744, and 48746.
Genesee County 911 Address Precision
Postal data is only one address layer. Michigan’s NG911 repository standardizes address points, street data, emergency response zones, and dispatch mapping. The state GIS standard includes fields for an address-number prefix, number, suffix, and composite address. Those fields explain why a suffix, fraction, or unit-like form should not be flattened into a nearby whole number when comparing a ZIP result with a parcel record.
The Genesee County 911 Authority contact listed in the county’s official material is G-4481 Corunna Road, Flint, Michigan 48532, 810-732-4720, and dca@geneseecounty911.org. That office information is useful for understanding emergency-address precision, not for changing a postal address. Preserve the address string exactly as it appears in the authoritative source being checked.
Genesee County ZIP Code Limits
ZIP boundaries and city limits do not match by design. A ZIP result is not proof of Genesee County jurisdiction, voter precinct, ownership, residence, or household membership. The same warning applies to a mailing city. Compare the USPS result, mapped parcel, municipality, and the specific record custodian before making a county-based statement. This is the central rule for a Genesee County ZIP code directory.
- ZIP versus ZIP+4
- A ZIP is the broader postal routing code. ZIP+4 adds delivery-specific routing detail and should be copied exactly when a postal form returns it.
- PO-box ZIP
- A postal code associated with box or mailing service. It does not establish where a parcel or person is physically located.
- Unique ZIP
- A ZIP assigned to a particular institution or delivery arrangement. The research did not identify a Genesee County unique ZIP to treat as a general location boundary.
- Carrier route
- A mail-delivery route. It is a Postal Service routing concept, not a county, parcel, precinct, or household record.
